Jakeventus temporarily signs new Goalkeeper
In a very entertaining game France won for the second time in history the World Cup. They defeated Croatia that nevertheless won the respect of the whole world for their always positive and never-giving-up attitude. Congratulations to all the French people in Mexico City!
However, for many of our players the more important game started about two hours after the final ended, when 18 players from all over the world met at Polideportivo los Culhuacanes to play some soccer games.
Jake decides warm-up Game
Team International played first a warm-up game against another team from the sports center. The team was sent home with a quick 3:1 victory with goals scored by Jake who hammered the ball into the net twice and Johnnie, who shoots whenever he gets an opportunity with his right or left leg.
US-boy Kyle and Manni-Mourinho with Hattrick
After that game we divided the group into two teams. Team 1, which we can call Jakeventus as Jake was part of it, signed a goal keeper for that game. The 13 year old Mexican did an extremely good job. Team 2 was changing goalkeepers, with Manni staying most of the time in the goal. He almost got knocked-out in the second half of the game when Wen underestimated a ball and a player from Jakeventus took a straight shot, hitting Manni at his throat. Manni would not be Manni if he wouldn’t have continued. All together team 2 showed a very impressive attitude at the game. With the US-strikers Andrew and Kyle they certainly had a more determined offensive play, the major contributor for the 7:2 victory with goals from Kyle (3), Manni (3) and Arturo, who scored the opening goal. Jakeventus’ goal scorer were striker Jake and defender Hector.
Team Cesar wins over Team Hector
For the second game at pitch 1 we switched players around to create new teams captained by Hector and Cesar. Cesar and Arturo were not able to come to the games the past weeks because they went to Russia to cheer for their country against South Corea, Sweden and Germany. That’s passion!
The second game took only about 40 minutes but it seemed to be alright due to the heat that the players were facing at yesterday’s games. Ruben and Fer complemented the teams for that game. Cesar’s team made sure they stayed strong in their defense. Hector’s team tried to go for the goal from the beginning with the offensive players Johnnie, Kyle and Jake. Newcomer Elias and US-boy Andrew scored 2 quick first goals for team Cesar with two efficiently played counter attacks. But Manni and Johnnie were able to score for team Hector soon after to bring the game into balance again. Right at the moment when team Hector started to play even more offensive they had to accept getting three more goals scored by midfielder Ruben and defenders Wen and Cesar: 5:2! Jake tried motivating his team shouting “we just need 4 quick goals”. It helped very marginally. The one who scored was once again US striker Andrew who seemed to have had a certain appetite for scoring goals yesterday. Kyle, the other US striker who scored three goals at the game before seemed not to have as much luck at this game, or as Hector put it: “se le quemó la pólvora”. He did score the last game of the day though, finishing the game with a 6:3 in favor of team Cesar.
At the end of the day Manni was the player of the day even though he only slept 4 hours the night before. He did not only risk his life keeping the goal clean as a goalkeeper but also made several determined offensive runs that ended up in a few goals for his team right when the team needed a goal. Congratulations Manni for winning the MVP of the day!
